ABSTRACT

Winarni. 2009. The Growth of Fibroblast Cells of Ear Skin Tissue of Local Goats Fetus on Different Culture Media. Novae Guinea 1(1) 2009: 1-16. – This research employs fibroblast cells since these cells have ability to grow and stick on the petridish as well as to grow quickly in vitro with a proper media composition. The research aims is to ditermine the influences of fetal sizes on the sizes, numbers, and viability of fibroblast cells of ear skin tissue of fetus of the Etawah goats. The samples used were fibroblast cells of ear skin tissue of goats’ fetus of 2 - 3 cm, 7 - 8 cm, and 12 - 15 cm in size. The treatment concern with the fetal length, i.e. (1) fetus of 2 -3 cm in size, (2) fetus of 7 - 8 cm in size and (3) fetus of 12 - 15 cm in size, with three replications. Variables measured are cellular sizes (S = 3 – 4 µm; M = 5 – 6 µm; L = 7 – 8 µm); numbers, counted with hemocytometer; and viability, counted by staining with Hoechst 33342. Data were analyzed by Anova and BNT-test. Goat fetuses were obtained from a slaughterhouse and transported to the laboratory in a thermos, then in laboratory fetus ear were obtained and primary cells isolate with mechanics. Cells were cultured in TCM 199 suplemented with 10% FBS and DMEM suplemented with 10% FBS. Culture were observed at the 4th; 7th and 14th day.
The research results show that the treatment to fetus of 7 - 8 cm in size with TCM 199 medium supplemented with 10% of FBS on the culture on 14th day has the most cellular numbers of 53.59 ± 2,36% among the M-sized (5 – 6 µm) cells, the highest cellular numbers of 1.6 x 106 ± 0,08 cell/ml, and the highest viability value of 85.60 ± 1,69% .
It was concluded that fetus of 7 - 8 cm in size on the culture on 14th day is fetus of appropriate size for the culture of fibroblast cells of ear skin tissue of goats fetus since it results in the best cellular sizes, numbers and viability. It was necessary to conduct further research at a molecular level that is the analysis of chromosomes.

ABSTRACT

Tanta & Uteng Datunsolang. 2009. The Biology of Vanda dauglas Lindl. (Orchidaceae). Novae Guinea 1(1): 17-27. – A study of flower biology of Vanda dauglas Lindl. was carried out to obtain the morphological development of flower, the characters of self incompatibility and some visitors insect. The methods to test a character of self incompatibility were outogamy and xenogamy pollination. The result of the research showed that an inflorescence raise from its stem, racemes, the anthesis centripetally (racemosa) with hercogamy characters. The character of self incompatibility is 100 percent and potential insect in helping pollination is a garden bee (Bombus pensilvanicus).

Keywords: Flower, Orchidaceae, Vanda dauglas Lindl., self incompatibility.

ABSTRACT

Edoward K. Raunsay. 2009. The Biology of Aimerei (Villebrunia rubescens Bl.) and its uses in traditional treatment in Karoaipi Society the District of Timur Jauh, Kepulauan Yapen Regency. Novae Guinea 1(1): 28-36. – This research is done in Karoaipi village District Timur Jauh Kepulauan Yapen Regency since April to May 2005. Intention of this research is to know the part of the leaf which used as medical plant, biological of plant of Aimerei through perception in laboratory, processing internal issues and his exploiting as traditional drug, and typical conditions in usage of plant in medication. Method which is used in this research is observation, interview, book study, and documentation. Data the obtained is data qualitative and analyzed by data display, discount, and data description.
From result of this research is known that leaf of Aimerei can be used to cure to contusion, bloated effect of collision, and backache. This medication is done by clan which inherit the way of this medication, and do not only done by just old fellow, but can be done by good the rising generation of woman and also men on condition that perpetrator of medication come from family which inherit the way of medication.

ABSTRACT

Maik Akobiarek & Samuel S. Erari. 2009. Vegetation Structure of Mangrove in Nubuai, the District of Ureifaisei, Waropen Regency. Novae Guinea 1(1): 37-45. – This Research is done in April to June 2009 to know structure of mangrove vegetation and potency of mangrove vegetation on the ecosystem goes out to sea and coastal area in Countryside of Nubuai.
Technique intakes of data use square method and analyzed quantitatively to know diversitys Species richness and species evenness.
Result of research at two research station found by 15 species from 7 familly of relatives. Diversity storey at both research station is (H'= 1), Storey of species richness at both station very high ( R= 9,83 and 12,8), Storey of species evenness at both station is lowering ( E= 0,43 and 0,48) and storey equality of species among both station very loo like ( S = 0,70)
forest of Mangrove Countryside of Nubuai very have potency to in taking care of coastline in coastal area of Waropen, also as habitat or house to sea like fish, crab and prawn.

ABSTRACT

Elisabeth Arung Ruba & Suprapto. 2009. Morphometric study of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.. Novae Guinea 1(1): 46 – 54. – Morphometric studies in Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. was carried out. The various forms or varieties have been distinguished by morphological characters which were analyzed using T-test and Anderson scatter diagram. This result of this analyzed showed that all the four forms is specific for each form; belong to different forms and the estimated origin from genetic stalk in the past.

Keywords: Morphometric, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L., Anderson Scatter.
